Why Join ASnA:

Anthropology South Africa is your organisation, representing the interests of anthropologists and the discipline in southern Africa. ASnA organizes the largest anthropological conference in southern Africa and collaborates with other anthropological organisations across the continent, and world. We provide a venue for publishing academic papers via our journal Anthropology Southern Africa.  Membership Fees

All ASnA memberships include a subscription to the journal Anthropology Southern Africa and enable you to register for ASnA's annual conference.

 


 Mandate:

  • Promote anthropology in southern Africa.
  • Support anthropological research.
  • Disseminate anthropological knowledge in the academic milieu and to the wider public


 Additional Information:

Your ASnA membership is valid in the year in which you are paying, unless otherwise stipulated. For example, if you pay for your membership between January 1st and December 31st, 2013 your membership will be valid for the year 2013 and you will receive all 2013 issues of Anthropology Southern Africa. To renew your membership for 2014 you should do so after January 1st, 2014.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP

Regular membership applies to all working anthropologists and included in any membership is a subscription to the journal Anthropology Southern Africa.

Memberships run from Jan 1 to Dec 31 in any calendar year and membership is valid in the year in which it is paid, unless otherwise stipulated.
Provided they are paid up in advance of the annual conference, members will be entitled to register for the conference of that year as well.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

ASnA encourages all students to join our association. As a student member, you will receive Anthropology Southern Africa, southern Africa only anthropological journal, keeping you informed to the research being conducted in the field by your professors and future colleagues. You will also be eligible to attend ASnA's annual conference.

RETIRED MEMBERSHIP

Anthropology is more than a job, it is a way of life. As such, we hope that all anthropologists will continue being active members of our association, even after retirement. To encourage this, we have a separate membership for retired members to encourage the participation of all anthropologists in ASnA. Membership includes a subscription to the journal Anthropology Southern Africa.

UNWAGED MEMBERSHIP

If you are unemployed, severely underemployed or otherwise unable at the present to pay for a regular membership, we invite you to contact us and register as an unwaged member. ASnA aims to be an inclusive association open to all anthropologists. As a member, you will benefit from all that ASnA has to offer to its members including attending the annual conference and receiving a subscription to the journal Anthropology Southern Africa.

POST-DOC MEMBERSHIP

ASnA membership affords you the opportunity to network with some of the leading anthropologists across southern Africa and meet potential employers and collaborators. We encourage you to join our association and the larger anthropological community that is ASnA. As a member, you will benefit from all that ASnA has to offer to its members including attending the annual conference and receiving a subscription to the journal Anthropology Southern Africa.
